EPB Underground Power Lines in Lakesite | Fewer Outages

Staff Writer
June 11, 2026

EPB will move overhead power lines underground in Lakesite as part of the utility's Resilience Project, a shift toward preventing outages rather than repairing them after storms.

The utility sent letters to customers this week announcing the initiative. EPB selected areas where undergrounding can reduce outage frequency while remaining cost-effective. Overhead lines frequently fail during storms due to falling trees, ice accumulation, and high winds.

EPB has not disclosed which Lakesite streets will see construction, when work will begin, or the project timeline. The utility serves more than 180,000 customers across Hamilton County and surrounding areas.

Lakesite officials said they are working with EPB to obtain details about the scope and schedule. Residents who received letters can visit EPB's website for more information.
