A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Chattahoochee County, including Cusseta, until October 10 at 3:30 AM EDT, bringing hazardous winds, potential moderate flooding, and a risk of tornadoes. Act now to complete preparations and follow all advisories.
A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Chattahoochee County, effective immediately from the National Weather Service (NWS) Peachtree City GA. The warning, issued October 9 at 11:19 PM EDT, includes Cusseta and is set to expire on October 10 at 3:30 AM EDT.
Residents should complete all last-minute preparations now. Hazardous winds of 15-25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph are expected, with a potential for winds reaching 39-57 mph. Damage to outdoor property, downed tree limbs, and scattered power outages are possible. Driving conditions may become hazardous, especially on elevated roadways.
A Flood Watch is also in effect. Expect an additional 2-4 inches of rain, with locally higher amounts, leading to potential moderate flooding. Rivers and tributaries may overflow, and some roads may become impassable. Heed all flood watches and warnings; evacuations and rescues are possible in vulnerable areas.
The situation is also favorable for several tornadoes, with a potential for a few to be intense. Listen for tornado watches and warnings. If a tornado warning is issued, shelter quickly. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should relocate to safe shelter immediately.
