Applicants seeking a marriage license in Charlotte County must visit the Clerk of Court's office in person. They will need a valid photo ID and their Social Security number. Individuals with prior marriages must provide the date of their most recent divorce.

The standard marriage license fee is $86. Couples completing a state-approved premarital preparation course pay a reduced fee of $61.

Florida law requires a three-day waiting period between license issuance and the wedding ceremony for Florida residents; this period does not apply to non-residents. Marriage licenses remain valid for 60 days.
