Cheyenne Man, 27, Arrested in Early-Morning Shooting on East 3rd Ave
Cheyenne Police Department officers responded to reports of gunfire at 4:15 a.m. Thursday in the 100 block of East 3rd Avenue, a residential area near downtown bars and homes. Upon arrival, they found a 31-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound and rushed him to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Investigators determined the shooting stemmed from an argument between the victim and suspect Adrian Maggos on the sidewalk outside a home.
Maggos, 27, of Cheyenne, fled the scene after the shooting but returned by early afternoon, reportedly planning to surrender. Detectives from the Crime Prevention Team, alongside a U.S. Marshals Service Task Force officer, located and arrested him at the East 3rd Avenue residence without resistance. He was booked into Laramie County Jail on charges of attempted first-degree murder.
The incident unfolded in a neighborhood popular with late-night crowds from nearby downtown establishments, though police described it as targeted and isolated. No other injuries were reported, and Cheyenne authorities emphasized there is no broader public safety concern in the capital city's core district.
