Richardson ISD Students Excel in Reading and Math

Staff Writer

Richardson ISD students outperform national benchmarks in reading and math

Richardson ISD students exceeded national growth expectations in reading and mathematics during the 2025-2026 school year, according to assessment results the Board of Trustees reviewed this month.

The district administers Measures of Academic Progress tests three times yearly to students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Teachers use fall baseline scores to set individual goals, check progress at midyear, and measure final growth in spring.

Students who stayed enrolled for the full year showed stronger growth than in previous years. Three campuses earned recognition for exceptional results: Jess Harben Elementary, Forest Lane Elementary, and Richardson North Junior High.

Superintendent details were not provided, but district leaders attributed the results to focused instruction and strong campus leadership. The performance aligns with the district's North Star Goal of ensuring every student, teacher, and leader meets or exceeds academic growth targets.

For 2026-2027, Richardson ISD plans to expand individualized growth plans, increase weekly data-driven teacher collaboration, and expand targeted intervention and enrichment opportunities across all campuses.
