The affected counties include Jefferson, Wayne, Perry, Franklin, Hamilton, Jackson, Williamson, Saline, Union, Johnson, Pope, Alexander, Pulaski, Massac in Illinois; Fulton, Hickman, Carlisle, Ballard, McCracken, Graves, Livingston, Marshall, Calloway in Kentucky; and Perry, Bollinger, Cape Girardeau, Wayne, Carter, Ripley, Butler, Stoddard, Scott, Mississippi, New Madrid in Missouri.

Those planning extended outdoor activities are urged to take heat safety measures. This includes staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water and taking frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned locations. The NWS emphasizes the importance of these precautions to prevent heat-related illnesses.
