A Red Flag Warning has been issued for portions of our community, effective from 10 AM Monday, October 5th, until 8 PM MDT the same day. Residents in Gallatin, Sweet Grass, and Wheatland Counties should be aware of critical fire weather conditions.

The National Weather Service in Billings has issued this warning, citing a combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures that can contribute to extreme fire behavior. Winds are expected to be from the west at 15 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 35 mph. Humidity levels could drop as low as 12 percent, and temperatures may reach up to 87 degrees.

These conditions create a high risk for erratic fire behavior for any new or existing fires, particularly across lower to mid-elevations in fine fuels. The Fire Weather Watch previously in effect has been canceled.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly. Residents are urged to exercise extreme caution to prevent wildfires. Any outdoor burning is strongly discouraged. Report any signs of fire immediately to emergency services.
