Middle Township Approves $2.3M Capital Improvement Plan
Middle Township Committee passed an ordinance Monday authorizing $2.261 million in capital improvements, including road repairs, facility upgrades, equipment purchases, and public safety technology.
The committee approved the measure on first reading April 13. A public hearing and final vote are scheduled for May 18.
The township will fund $107,670 from its Capital Improvement Fund. General obligation bonds or bond anticipation notes will cover the remaining $2.153 million.
Road improvements receive the largest allocation at $800,000 for milling, paving, reconstruction, curbing, drainage work, and roadway painting.
The township will spend $580,000 on buildings and grounds, including upgrades at Goshen Recreation Complex, Town Hall parking lot resurfacing, security system improvements, and Martin Luther King Center Playground enhancements.
Equipment purchases total $544,000. The township will acquire a dump truck with plow and spreader, utility vehicles, landscaping equipment, and HVAC system replacements.
Middle Township Police Department will receive $202,000 for radios, computer systems, and speed radar signs. The remaining $135,000 covers township-wide information technology upgrades, office equipment, filing systems, and computer hardware.
The ordinance allows the township to reduce the bond amount if it receives federal, state, county, or private grants.
Residents may comment on the capital plan at the May 18 Township Committee meeting.
