Cape Coral Begins 25 MPH Residential Speed Limit Rollout

Cape Coral city crews started replacing speed limit signs on residential roads yesterday, September 22, as part of the City's Areawide Neighborhood Speed Limit Study. The initiative aims to enhance safety for motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists across the community.

The changes involve swapping existing 30 miles per hour (mph) signs with new 25 mph signs on applicable residential roadways. This adjustment reflects recommendations from the city's speed limit study, which evaluated speeds on residential streets to identify areas for improvement.

During the ongoing installation period, Cape Coral Police officers will issue warnings to drivers exceeding the new 25 mph limit. The city will announce when this warning period concludes, after which police will begin issuing citations for violations.
