LLANO AND BURNET COUNTIES, TX - The National Weather Service (NWS) Austin/San Antonio TX has issued a Special Weather Statement urging residents to seek shelter indoors as a strong thunderstorm approaches. This statement is effective immediately, September 20, 2026, and expires at 4:45 PM UTC (11:45 AM CDT) today.

At 3:56 PM CDT, Doppler radar located a strong thunderstorm near Baby Head, approximately 11 miles north of Llano. This storm is moving northeast at 5 mph. The primary hazard associated with this storm is wind gusts up to 50 mph, as indicated by radar.

The NWS warns that gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations expected to be impacted include Llano, Buchanan Lake Village, Castell, Field Creek, Baby Head, Lone Grove, Valley Spring, Tow, and Colorado Bend State Park.
