Residents in Scott and Campbell counties are advised to seek shelter indoors as a strong thunderstorm is tracking through the area. The National Weather Service (NWS) Morristown TN issued a Special Weather Statement today, September 21, 2026, at 11:58 PM EDT, warning of wind gusts up to 40 mph.
Doppler radar indicates the storm was over Huntsville, approximately 8 miles south of Oneida, moving northeast at 20 mph. The NWS warns that gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.
The Special Weather Statement is effective immediately and expires at 12:30 AM EDT on September 22, 2026.
Areas expected to be impacted include Oneida, Huntsville, Helenwood, Caryville, Winfield, Royal Blue, Norma, Slick Rock, and Robbins. If you are outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building for your safety during this period.
