Rip Current Statement Issued for Coastal Areas Until Saturday Night

Coastal residents and beachgoers in Nassau, Duval, Flagler, St. Johns, Glynn, and Camden counties are advised of a Rip Current Statement issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Jacksonville, FL. This statement is effective immediately, beginning September 23 at 1:53 AM EDT, and remains in effect until late Saturday night, September 27 at 1:00 AM EDT.

Dangerous rip currents are expected along all Southeast Georgia and Northeast Florida beaches. Rip currents can carry even strong swimmers away from shore into deeper waters.

The NWS advises individuals to swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, remain calm and float. Do not attempt to swim against the current. If possible, swim parallel to the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and signal for help by calling or waving.
