Rip Current Statement Issued: Dangerous Conditions for Coastal Glynn and Camden

A Rip Current Statement has been issued for Coastal Glynn and Coastal Camden, warning of dangerous rip currents from Tuesday morning through late Wednesday night, alongside a Coastal Flood Advisory.

Coastal residents and visitors in Glynn and Camden counties are advised of a Rip Current Statement issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Jacksonville, FL. Dangerous rip currents are expected to impact Southeast Georgia Beaches from Tuesday morning, October 6, through late Wednesday night, October 7.

Alongside the High Rip Current Risk, a Coastal Flood Advisory is also in effect. Minor coastal flooding is expected from 8 AM EDT Tuesday, October 6, to 5 AM EDT Thursday, October 8. This may lead to flooding of lots, parks, and roads, with isolated road closures possible.

For those who must travel during the Coastal Flood Advisory, allow extra time for potential road closures. Do not attempt to drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Property owners in flood-prone areas should take necessary actions to protect their property.

Regarding the High Rip Current Risk, the NWS advises all beachgoers to swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, remain calm and float. Do not attempt to swim against the current. If possible, swim parallel to the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and signal for help.
