Precautionary boil water notice lifted for Callaway Public Water System customers

CALLAWAY – Residents served by the Callaway Public Water System, from the neighborhoods near Calloway Gardens to the shores of St. Andrews Bay, can now resume normal water use following the rescission of a precautionary boil water notice.

The notice, initially issued on September 9, 2026, was lifted today, September 15, 2026, after the City of Callaway received satisfactory bacteriological test results. The city stated that these results confirm the water is safe for consumption and use, a welcome sign for all of Bay County.

The precautionary boil water notice had been in effect for customers connected to the Callaway Public Water System. The city did not specify the exact cause for the initial notice but indicated it was a precautionary measure to ensure public safety, especially important as we head into cooler months.

Residents are advised to flush their plumbing by running cold water taps for one minute to clear any discolored water. They should also flush any appliances that use water, such as refrigerators with automatic ice makers, and clean out any coffee makers or other water-using devices, ensuring everything is ready for the upcoming fall season.

For further information, residents can contact the City of Callaway Public Works Department, a familiar point of contact for many in our community.
