City Manager

The City Manager is responsible to the Commission for the administration of all City business placed in their charge by the City Charter, ordinances, or policies of the City. This is accomplished through: The building of strong relationships with the Commission and internal and external customers. Sound fiscal stewardship. Delivery of quality municipal services. Program development in response to changing needs of the community. Recommendation of policies that the Manager believes will enhance the quality of life for the citizens of Callaway. Under the Charter adopted by the citizens of Callaway, the City Manager is the administrative head responsible for proper administration of all business of the City. Concerns If you have any concerns that you would like to have addressed, please complete the General Concern / Complaint Form and submit your information. Once the form is submitted it will be forwarded to my office.

Leisure Services

Leisure Services Mission Our mission is to provide wholesome recreational, cultural, and leisure activities for the City of Callaway residents and our visitors. In doing so, we: Make every effort to be conscious of our environment and to be good stewards by implementing best management practices, which in many ways protect our water resources and provide a safe, natural habitat for fish and wildlife. Serve to meet the recreational needs of children and adults of all ages and abilities. Take pride in applying up-to-date procedures, maintenance, and operations to provide safe, aesthetically pleasing sports fields and recreational facilities. The City of Callaway Leisure Services Department has concluded its Pre-Season Meeting with all recreational leagues. During this meeting, City staff reviewed the policies and procedures utilized by the City of Callaway, with primary emphasis on the implementation of Level 2 background screenings as mandated by Florida Statutes, effective January 1, 2026. As discussed, the City of Callaway has implemented a comprehensive Background Screening Policy applicable to all City employees and volunteers who work with or around youth, vulnerable populations, and the general public. This policy reinforces the City’s ongoing commitment to delivering safe, secure, and well-managed programs, facilities, and services to residents and visitors. Background screenings are conducted through a reputable third-party provider and are designed to promote transparency, accountability, and public trust. Please find the supporting documentation attached, including the Standard Operating Procedure for the Background Screening Policy and the Press Release, which will be distributed to local news outlets regarding the background screening requirements for employees and volunteers. Callaway Historical Society

The Callaway Historical Society is located at 522 Beulah Avenue. Meetings are held at 2:00 PM on the third Sunday of the month in the Community Center at Gore Park, followed by tours of the one room school house and museum. Bay County Waste Amnesty Days

Bay County’s biannual Waste Amnesty Days will be Friday, October 16 and Saturday, October 17 from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Steelfield Landfill located at 11411 Landfill Road in West Bay, off State 79. This is a great opportunity for residents to clear out yard debris, household garbage, and hazardous waste at no cost. The event is open to Bay County residents only, and proof of residency, such as a driver’s license, utility bill, or voter registration card, is required.
