PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – THE PLAYERS Championship is proud to continue its tradition of honoring the military community by offering complimentary tickets to active duty, retired and reserve military members and veterans to the 2024 tournament, March 12-17.

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – THE PLAYERS Championship is proud to continue its tradition of honoring the military community by offering complimentary tickets to active duty, retired and reserve military members and veterans to the 2024 tournament, March 12-17. Military members and veterans are invited to register online to secure up to two (2) complimentary tickets to THE PLAYERS Championship 2024, valid any one day, Tuesday, March 12 – Sunday, March 17. Ticket quantities are limited and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Military members must verify their military status through THE PLAYERS’ online verification partner, GovX, to be eligible to receive complimentary tickets. “We are honored to continue our longstanding tradition of honoring the men and women who have dedicated their lives to serving our country,” said THE PLAYERS Championship Executive Director Lee Smith. “We hope this is one small way we can show our gratitude for their service and sacrifice.” In addition to providing complimentary tickets, THE PLAYERS Championship offers several other military appreciation initiatives during tournament week: THE PLAYERS Military Appreciation Day, Tuesday, March 12: All military members and veterans (who have already claimed a complimentary ticket) are invited to attend the Military Appreciation Day ceremony on Tuesday, March 12, at the famed 17th hole. The ceremony will feature a flyover, the National Anthem and a special presentation to military members and veterans. THE PLAYERS Military Appreciation Tent: Located on the 16th hole, the Military Appreciation Tent is open to all military members and veterans throughout the tournament week. The tent provides a comfortable and convenient space to relax and enjoy the tournament. Birdies for the Brave Patriots’ Outpost: This hospitality chalet is located on the 9th hole and is open to all active duty, retired and reserve military members and veterans. The chalet offers complimentary food and beverage, as well as a great view of the golf course. "Join the CHARACTER COUNTS! Steering Committee for its 13th Annual CHARACTER COUNTS! 6K/3K Run/Walk on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 9 a.m. The run/walk will begin and end at Palencia Elementary School, located at 355 Palencia Village Drive, St. Augustine. Walkers and runners will enjoy a course running through the neighborhoods of Kensington and Las Calinas and can choose to participate in the 6K (3.73 miles) or 3K (1.86 miles) distance. Registration fees are as follows: 6K Walk/Run $30 before January 1 $35 January 1 – 31 $40 on race day 3K Walk/Run $30 before January 1 $35 January 1 – 31 $40 on race day Register by December 31, 2025, to receive a race t-shirt and other give-aways from sponsoring businesses and community organizations! Registration forms and more information are available online. Race proceeds support CHARACTER COUNTS! initiatives throughout the St. Johns County School District (SJCSD). The run/walk is open to all ages, and the top three winners will be awarded in each of the age categories as well as the overall male and female finishers. A cash donation will be awarded to the schools with the most registrants. At the finish line, each race participant will receive a finisher’s medal. This event is produced by the CHARACTER COUNTS! Steering Committee and is presented by Beaver Toyota with support from businesses and community groups. Action News Jax CBS47/FOX30 is the official media sponsor. The SJCSD, along with area businesses, youth organizations and civic groups, selected the national character education program of CHARACTER COUNTS! as a countywide initiative to instill positive character traits in young people throughout the county. Additionally, the SJCSD became the first school district in Florida to implement Pursuing Victory With Honor in all of its athletic programs. Character education is an important part of every School Improvement Plan and a major component of the Student Code of Conduct and the school district’s Strategic Plan.
