Residents across a wide area of Ohio are advised to prepare for potential dense fog overnight. The National Weather Service (NWS) Wilmington OH has issued a Special Weather Statement, effective immediately, warning of conditions conducive to fog development, which could reduce visibility to a quarter-mile or less.

This Moderate severity alert is in effect until 2:45 AM UTC (10:45 PM EDT) on October 12, 2026. The affected counties include Mason, Hardin, Mercer, Auglaize, Darke, Shelby, Logan, Miami, Champaign, Clark, Preble, Montgomery, Greene, Butler, Warren, Clinton, Hamilton, Clermont, and Brown.

The NWS advises motorists to exercise extreme caution. Be prepared for rapid changes in visibility. Allow greater distances between vehicles, use low beam headlights, and allocate extra time for your travels. Conditions may worsen through daybreak, particularly in areas farther east into Ohio and south into northern Kentucky.
