Mohave College Honors Dr. Julie Bare with Founder's Award

Mohave College honored Board President Dr. Julie Bare with the Founder's Award during its 55th annual commencement ceremony Friday, May 15, at Anderson Fieldhouse in Bullhead City.
The award recognizes individuals whose service advances the college's growth and mission. Dr. Bare received it after 18 years on the Board of Governors, representing District 2. She announced she will not seek reelection this fall and will retire at the end of her current term on Dec. 31, 2026.
Interim President Dr. Tim Culver presented the award, calling it an "enduring symbol of appreciation" for her commitment to advancing educational excellence.
Dr. Bare earned her associate degree from Mohave College in 1975 while raising a family. She later obtained a bachelor's degree, master's degree and doctorate in educational leadership from Northern Arizona University. She retired from a 30-year career as an educator in the Bullhead City public school system before joining the board.
During her tenure, Mohave College expanded workforce training, launched student success initiatives, added an athletic program and completed campus improvements. Dr. Bare also led the presidential search that resulted in the selection of Dr. Christin Holliday as the college's seventh president. The search attracted nearly 90 applicants nationwide.
The commencement ceremony honored 921 students who earned 1,123 degrees and certificates. An additional 97 Early College students, age 18 and younger, earned certificates or degrees before graduating from high school.
