"Help Support North Pole Police Department's K9 Unit Program! The NPPD K9 Unit Program is a brand new initiative made possible with community support.  The unit will add crucial public-safety capabilities to our team, further enhancing our ability to serve the community of North Pole.  All donations are exclusively used for costs associated with the K9 Program.  These costs include K9 sourcing and regular training, health and wellness checks, equipment, food and supplies.  Donate Today! MISSION The NPPD Canine Unit is a specialized team consisting of a highly trained officer and their canine partner that work together to preserve public safety.  Police Canines far exceed a human's natural abilities with their abilities in tracking missing persons, detecting illegal narcotics, apprehending suspects and protecting other officers.  This team is a vital component of our commitment to serve the community.   Key Functions Tracking:  Clearing buildings, locating at-risk missing persons or fleeing suspects. Detection:  Identifying the presence of narcotics or other key evidence. Apprehension:  Gives Officer an additional less-lethal means of containing dangerous individuals. Community Engagement:  Building positive relationships through demonstrations and public outreach. "
