Buhl School District Ends Free Meal Program

Buhl School District will end its free breakfast and lunch program next school year, Superintendent Angie Oparnico announced in an end-of-year message to families. Enrollment no longer meets the threshold required for the district to break even under the Community Eligibility Provision program.
Families must complete Free and Reduced Lunch applications before school resumes to determine eligibility for reduced-price meals. The district will distribute forms and instructions before classes begin.
Two facility projects will proceed this summer and fall. Workers will replace the Buhl High School roof using School Modernization funds, aiming to finish weatherproofing before students return. New football stadium lights will be installed after fall sports season ends to avoid disrupting games. The district will pay for the lighting with facilities and maintenance funds.
The district approved its 2026-27 school calendar, available on the district website. The district is hiring substitute teachers for the upcoming year. Applicants should submit materials through the district employment portal or contact [email protected] with questions about requirements and pay.
