A Rip Current Statement has been issued for Coastal Glynn and Coastal Camden by the NWS, warning of dangerous rip currents from Tuesday morning until Wednesday night; residents are advised to swim near lifeguards and follow safety instructions if caught in a current.

Coastal Glynn and Coastal Camden residents and visitors are advised that a Rip Current Statement has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Jacksonville, FL. Dangerous rip currents are expected from Tuesday morning, October 5th, at 3:22 AM EDT until late Wednesday night, October 8th, at 5:00 AM EDT.

The NWS warns that rip currents can sweep even experienced swimmers away from shore into deeper water, posing a significant hazard. This alert specifically affects all Southeast Georgia Beaches within Coastal Glynn and Coastal Camden counties.

To ensure safety, the NWS provides the following instructions: Always swim near a lifeguard. If you find yourself caught in a rip current, remain calm and float. Do not attempt to swim directly against the current. If possible, swim in a direction parallel to the shoreline to escape the current. If you are unable to escape, face the shore and signal for help by calling out or waving your arms.
