Brooksville Annexation: Easy Process for Property Owners
Brooksville is inviting property owners in adjacent unincorporated areas to annex into the city through a streamlined process that typically takes two to four months.
Annexation expands city boundaries and brings properties under municipal jurisdiction. Annexed owners gain access to city water and sewer service, trash and recycling collection, street sweeping, public parks, and voting rights in city elections. The city also points to potential property value increases from code enforcement and neighborhood standards.
The process begins with an eligibility check confirming the property is contiguous to city limits. Property owners then submit a free petition form, available at City Hall or online, that requires proof of ownership and a legal description of the property.
City staff meet with owners to discuss utility options, zoning, and benefits. The city holds two public hearings before City Council for final approval. There are no upfront fees for the basic process.
The city adheres to Florida Statutes Chapter 171 governing annexation. Property owners can contact City Hall for more information.
