Broken Arrow Church Helps Homeless Students

First Christian Church Broken Arrow will work with Sequoyah Middle School to address homelessness and food insecurity among students in the district.
Pastor Matthew Crowe and Outreach Chair Terry Beckwith met with school leaders this week to discuss support. Broken Arrow Public Schools has 515 students experiencing homelessness, with some going without meals between Friday lunch and Monday morning.
The church will connect families with the 1-1-1 Project's CarePortal, which links churches with families needing immediate assistance including food, housing support, and household items. Sequoyah Middle School operates Beyond the Bell, a federally funded after-school program offering academic enrichment, life skills support, mental health resources, and snacks.
The church, located across from Sequoyah Middle School, will share volunteer opportunities with members in coming weeks.
