A Wind Advisory is in effect until Sunday, October 11 at 6:00 AM MDT for numerous Utah valleys and mountain areas, with gusts up to 55 mph expected, prompting calls to secure loose objects and use caution while driving.
Residents across the Great Salt Lake Desert and Mountains, Tooele and Rush Valleys, Eastern Box Elder County, Northern Wasatch Front, Salt Lake Valley, Utah Valley, Cache Valley/Utah Portion, Wasatch Back, Bear Lake and Bear River Valley, and Sanpete Valley should secure loose outdoor objects immediately. A Wind Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Salt Lake City UT, effective from Friday, October 10 at 3:35 PM MDT until Sunday, October 11 at 6:00 AM MDT.
South winds are expected to reach 20 to 30 mph, with gusts up to 50 to 55 mph. These strong winds could blow around unsecured objects and may lead to scattered power outages. The NWS advises monitoring the latest forecasts and warnings for any updates.
Drivers, particularly those in high-profile vehicles or towing trailers, should exercise extreme caution as these conditions will make driving difficult. Ensure all loose items are secured or sheltered in a safe location before the winds intensify.
