The Brevard County Board of County Commissioners will consider a request to accept a federal grant from the U.S. Department of Justice. The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Local Solicitation could provide funding for the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.
The proposed action, listed as agenda item F.11 on the consent agenda, asks for permission for the county to apply for and receive the grant. If approved, the Sheriff’s Office would manage the funds. The Board of County Commissioners would provide written approval to the Sheriff’s Department.
The Chair of the Board will also receive authorization to sign any necessary contractual agreements, modifications, and amendments. The County Manager will execute budget change requests to manage the grant funds. The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at 5:00 PM.
The grant, if accepted, could provide resources for crime prevention, law enforcement initiatives or other justice-related programs. The Sheriff’s Office will determine the specific use of the funds.
