Dense Fog Advisory for North and Central Georgia Until 9 AM

A Special Weather Statement has been issued for north and central Georgia until 9 AM EDT due to patchy dense fog reducing visibility, requiring drivers to slow down and use low-beam headlights.

Drivers in north and central Georgia should exercise extreme caution this morning due to patchy dense fog. The National Weather Service (NWS) Peachtree City has issued a Special Weather Statement effective until 9:00 AM EDT today, October 6, 2026.

Visibility is significantly reduced to between one-half and one-quarter of a mile in affected areas. Conditions are expected to improve after 9:00 AM.

Affected counties include: Fannin, Gilmer, Union, Towns, Gordon, Pickens, Dawson, Lumpkin, White, Floyd, Bartow, Cherokee, Forsyth, Hall, Banks, Jackson, Madison, Polk, Paulding, Cobb, North Fulton, Gwinnett, Barrow, Clarke, Oconee, Oglethorpe, Wilkes, Haralson, Carroll, Douglas, South Fulton, DeKalb, Rockdale, Walton, Newton, Morgan, Greene, Taliaferro, Heard, Coweta, Fayette, Clayton, Spalding, Henry, Butts, Jasper, Putnam, Hancock, Warren, Troup, Meriwether, Pike, Upson, Lamar, Monroe, Jones, Baldwin, Harris, Talbot, Taylor, Crawford, and Bibb.

If you are driving this morning, the NWS advises slowing down, using low-beam headlights, and increasing the distance between your vehicle and others on the road.
