Tampa Building Official JC Hudgison Wins 2026 State Award

Tampa's Chief Building Official JC Hudgison received the 2026 Building Official of the Year award from the Building Officials Association of Florida at the organization's conference in Jacksonville this month.

Hudgison introduced virtual inspections and Permit Navigator, an online tool that helps homeowners and applicants identify required permits. He oversees plan review, inspections, and code enforcement for the city.

Abbye Feeley, the City of Tampa's Development and Economic Opportunity Administrator, said Hudgison's work "has made a lasting impact not only within DGM, but across the City of Tampa." Hudgison reaches his six-year anniversary with the city this spring.

Hudgison leads the Building Department's effort to gain accreditation from the International Accreditation Service, which certifies cities meet national standards for permitting, plan reviews, and inspections.
