Paul Amburgey, 86, former Giant Foods engineer, dies

Paul Ray Amburgey, a former chief engineer for Giant Foods who later retired to Florida, died Aug. 26, 2026. He was 86.

Born Sept. 11, 1939, in South Charleston, West Virginia, Mr. Amburgey was the son of Carl Vernon Amburgey and Doris Hossler Amburgey.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Claudia; his sister Rebecca Rouche; and his brothers David and Joseph. He is survived by his wife, Kathy L. Amburgey, of Bradenton; three sons, Michael R. Amburgey (Maurianna), Steven S. Amburgey (Louise), and Victor R. Amburgey; nine grandchildren, Regan, Tanner (Christa), Kate, Chole, Jordan, Steven, Devin, Kayla, and Ryan; and three great-grandchildren, Elijah, Ezra, and Genevieve, with two more expected. He also leaves sisters Ricki Johnson and Sue Miklik (David).

Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory, 604 43rd Street in Bradenton, is handling arrangements. A private burial will take place at Sarasota National Cemetery.
