Karin "KC" Storey Peters, 76, Remembered in Bradenton

Karin Colleen Storey Peters, known to family and friends as KC, died Aug. 25, 2026, in Bradenton from natural causes. She was 76.

A celebration of life took place Sept. 5 at Risen Savior Lutheran Church in Lakewood Ranch, giving family and friends an opportunity to remember a woman whose faith, humor and creativity shaped the lives around her.

KC was born Jan. 27, 1950, in Independence, Louisiana. A Christian, her faith provided comfort and strength. Her family described her as loving, funny and creative, with a gift for making people feel welcome and valued.

She earned an Associate of Arts degree from Manatee Community College. KC later worked as a bookkeeper and administrative assistant in the hotel industry and for nonprofit groups. Colleagues and friends knew her for reliability, organization and a willingness to help.

Outside work, KC enjoyed sewing, crafts and ceramics. She had a talent for working with her hands and took satisfaction in making things, solving problems and sharing laughter. Her family said she approached these activities with the same thoughtfulness and care she brought to her relationships.

She is survived by her children, Chris and Danette Peters, Paul Peters, and Alice and Zack McClary. Her grandchildren include Riley and Joel Peters, Emma, Paxton and Aleksandr Peters, and Killian and Weldon McClary.

KC also leaves her brother, George Storey, and her sisters, Charlotte Bowlin, Pat Spruill and Suzy Davis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerold "Jerry" Peters; her parents, Paul and Mickey Storey; and her brothers, Paul "Butch" Storey and Nat Storey.

The celebration of life took place at 10 a.m. Sept. 5 at Risen Savior Lutheran Church, 14605 59th Ave. E., Lakewood Ranch. Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 43rd Street Chapel, 604 43rd Street, Bradenton, handled arrangements.
