LECOM Park, spring training home for the Pittsburgh Pirates, will host the “Boots vs. Badges” charity softball game on Thursday, November 5. The event pits the Bradenton Police Department against the Bradenton Fire Department to raise funds for charities benefiting both departments.

Gates open at 6 p.m., with the first pitch thrown at 6:30 p.m. Tickets cost $10, with all proceeds supporting local first responders.

Bradenton Mayor Gene Brown expressed his excitement for the event's return. “We’re excited to see this event return and give our community another opportunity to come together, have some fun and support causes that mean a lot to our Police and Fire departments,” Mayor Brown said. “I hope everyone comes out to cheer them on and enjoy a great night at LECOM Park.”

Jeff Podobnik, Vice President of Florida and Dominican Republic Operations for the Pittsburgh Pirates, highlighted the park's community role. “LECOM Park has always been a place where our community can come together, and we’re excited to host an evening that brings two of Bradenton’s finest groups of public servants together for some fun competition,” Podobnik said.

Bradenton Fire Chief Tim Geer added, “We work side by side with BPD every day to serve the Bradenton community, but this time we’ll be on opposite sides of the field. We’re looking forward to some friendly competition while raising money for a good cause and maybe earning a few bragging rights along the way.”

Bradenton Police Chief Josh Cramer voiced his gratitude. “We’re grateful to the Pittsburgh Pirates and Bradenton Marauders for their steadfast support of our local first responders.”
