"Sarasota DUI Court observes April as National Alcohol Awareness Month and Gives Back to the Community through the Keep Sarasota County Beautiful Road Adoption As a means of giving back to Sarasota County and recognizing National Alcohol Awareness Month, The Twelfth Judicial Circuit DUI Court has adopted two local roads (North Lockwood Ridge Rd and North Beneva Rd between 17th St and Fruitville Rd) through the Keep Sarasota County Beautiful Program. Sarasota County DUI Court Participants will be able to serve Sarasota County through this community service cleanup project, which aims to keep Sarasota County free of trash and debris. The DUI Court Program has been in existence since June 2008 and has provided therapeutic interventions, random drug testing, individual and group counseling, and court supervision to over four hundred clients. Sarasota DUI Court participants include impaired drivers who, without serious treatment, intervention, and accountability are of a high risk to re-offend. The goal of the program is to change the behavior of our clients’ alcohol/drug dependence by addressing the root cause of their alcohol and/or other substance abuse issues. The program, since its inception, has been overseen by Judge David L. Denkin and the current Executive Director, Mollie Cool."
