Gusty Winds Expected Today in Madison River Valley, Beaverhead County

Gusty winds are expected today in the Madison River Valley, Beaverhead County, and surrounding mountain areas, with isolated showers capable of producing gusts over 40 mph this morning, according to the NWS.

A Special Weather Statement has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Great Falls MT for gusty winds expected today, October 10, 2026. This alert is in effect from 5:19 AM MDT and expires at 7:30 AM MDT.

Residents in the Madison River Valley, Northwest Beaverhead County, Beaverhead and Western Madison below 6000ft, Ruby Mountains and Southern Beaverhead Mountains, and Gallatin and Madison County Mountains and Centennial Mountains should anticipate isolated showers capable of producing wind gusts in excess of 40 mph this morning. Gusty southwest winds are then expected to develop later this morning and persist through the afternoon, ahead of a cold front arriving late today.

This is a moderate severity event with an expected urgency. No specific instructions for action were provided by the NWS beyond awareness of the conditions.
