Women's Policy | Office of Governor Jeff Landry skip to Main Content Menu Programs & Initiatives Programs Women's Policy Women's Policy A primary function of the office is to serve as a connector between non-profits, state and federal agencies, educational institutions, legislators and concerned citizens to promote effective collaborations to further the status of Louisiana women. This includes working collaboratively with the Louisiana Legislative Women’s Caucus and the Louisiana Women’s Foundation. The office provides strategic support and leadership to the Louisiana Women’s Policy and Research Commission and the Domestic Violence Prevention Commission. The Governor’s Office on Women’s Policy (OWP) supports public policy that promotes the educational, health, social and economic well-being of women and girls in Louisiana. Domestic Violence Prevention Commission The Domestic Violence Prevention Commission exists to: Assist local and state leaders in developing and coordinating domestic violence programs. Develop a state needs assessment and a comprehensive and integrated service delivery approach that meets the needs of all domestic violence victims. Establish a method to transition domestic violence service providers toward evidence-based national best practices focusing on outreach and prevention. Develop a plan that ensures state laws on domestic violence are properly implemented and provides training to law enforcement and the judiciary. Develop a framework to collect and integrate data and measure program outcomes. Women's Policy and Research Commission The Louisiana Women’s Policy and Research Commission exists to: Research and collect facts and statistics about the wellbeing of women. Make special studies of conditions pertaining to the employment, health, safety and financial status of women in the state of Louisiana. Submit an annual report to Governor with their findings.
