FLHSMV Kicks Off Child Safety Awareness Month FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE March 1, 2024 Contact: FLHSMV Communications [email protected] Tallahassee, Fla. – The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) is kicking off Child Safety Awareness Month in April to raise awareness about the importance of keeping children safe on the road. Throughout the month, FLHSMV will be sharing tips and resources for parents and caregivers on how to properly install car seats, ensure children are properly buckled up, and avoid leaving children unattended in vehicles. “Child safety is our top priority,” said Executive Director Dave Kerner. “We want to make sure that all children in Florida are as safe as possible when traveling in vehicles.” The FLHSMV offers a variety of resources for parents and caregivers, including: * Car seat safety checks * Educational materials * Online resources “We encourage all parents and caregivers to take advantage of these resources and learn how to keep their children safe,” said Director of the Florida Highway Patrol Colonel Gary Howze.
