A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Holmes County, effective immediately, by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee, FL. The warning is in effect until 7:15 PM UTC today, October 8, 2026. Residents in Bonifay and Ponce De Leon are specifically advised to take immediate action.

Dangerous winds of equivalent strong tropical storm force are expected, with potential for 58 to 73 mph gusts. Significant damage to property, downed trees, and impassable roads are possible. Scattered power and communications outages are also anticipated. Efforts to protect life and property should be underway now. Complete all preparations before winds become hazardous.

A Flood Watch is also in effect, with 3-6 inches of rain expected, and locally higher amounts. Major rainfall flooding is possible, which may prompt evacuations and rescues. Heed any flood watches and warnings, as failure to take action could result in serious injury or loss of life.

The situation is favorable for several tornadoes, with a few possibly intense. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should prepare to relocate to safe shelter. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be ready to shelter quickly if a warning is issued.
