A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Holmes County, including Bonifay and Ponce De Leon, effective immediately from the National Weather Service in Tallahassee. This warning is in effect until 7:15 AM EDT on October 9.

Residents are advised to move to safe shelter before hazardous winds arrive. Peak wind gusts of up to 40 mph are expected, with potential for damaging winds of 58 to 73 mph. Significant damage to property, trees, and potential road impassibility are anticipated. Scattered power and communications outages are likely.

A Flood Watch is also in effect. Major flooding from 3-6 inches of rain, with higher localized amounts, is expected. Evacuations and rescues are likely due to extensive flooding. Heed all flood watches and warnings.

The situation is favorable for several tornadoes, some potentially intense. Manufactured homes and those on boats should relocate to safe shelter. Listen for tornado watches and warnings, and be ready to shelter quickly if a warning is issued.
