Seek Shelter: Strong Thunderstorms Impact Grayson, Fannin Counties

Residents in Grayson and Fannin counties are advised to seek shelter indoors as strong thunderstorms, capable of producing winds in excess of 40 mph and torrential rainfall, are impacting the area. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Fort Worth TX issued a Special Weather Statement at 7:15 PM CDT, effective until 8:00 PM CDT.

According to NWS Doppler radar, these storms are nearly stationary. Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects, with minor damage to outdoor objects possible.

Strong thunderstorms are expected to affect Sherman, Bonham, Howe, Whitewright, Bells, Tom Bean, Savoy, Ector, Dodd City, and Dorchester around 7:20 PM CDT. Crockett Lake is expected to be impacted around 7:45 PM CDT. Other locations include Cannon, Telephone, Ida, Ivanhoe, Cotton Center, Elmont, Duplex, Nobility, Pilot Grove, and Sowells Bluff.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring and may lead to localized flooding. Drivers are urged not to drive vehicles through flooded roadways. If you are outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
