The South Dakota Department of Transportation said I-90 is reduced to one lane in each direction while crews work on the interchange reconstruction and utility relocation. The eastbound reduction runs from about mile marker 45 to mile marker 46, while westbound traffic is reduced from about mile marker 47 to Exit 44. Temporary traffic shifts may occur, but access to homes and businesses will be maintained. The project will also require a temporary water shutoff for all Piedmont homes and businesses between midnight and 4 a.m. on either Sept. 25 or Sept. 26. The city will notify residents and businesses once the date is confirmed. SDDOT expects Sturgis Road and Elk Creek Road to be paved by the end of November.
