The City is now accepting applications for several key Boards and Committees, offering residents a chance to actively participate in local governance. The deadline to apply is April 30, 2026.
Opportunities are available on the Board of Adjustment, which hears zoning variance appeals; the Planning Board, which reviews development proposals; and the Forestry Committee, focused on urban tree initiatives. Residents can also join the Beautification Committee, dedicated to enhancing the city's visual appeal, or the ABC Board, overseeing alcoholic beverage control policies.
Further roles include positions on the Cemetery Committee, assisting with oversight and preservation, and the Historic Preservation Commission (HPC), which reviews changes within historic districts to maintain the city's character.
Applications can be found on the City’s website at cityofsouthport.gov/committees. Completed applications should be submitted to City Clerk Tori Deviney via email at [email protected]. The application period closes at 5:00 PM on April 30, 2026.
