Spanish River Park Beach Wins Blue Flag Award 2026
Spanish River Park earned the Blue Flag Beach Award for the second consecutive year, placing Boca Raton among three U.S. beaches with the international designation.
The city raised the Blue Flag on May 7, marking the start of the 2026-2027 award season through April 30, 2027. The award recognizes excellence in water quality, environmental management, safety services, and environmental education.
The Blue Flag area extends from Tower 18 to the southern boundary of Spanish River Park. The city installed information boards at the Central Tunnel pavilion displaying current water testing results, beach safety information, environmental programs from Gumbo Limbo Nature Center, and conservation details.
"Receiving the Blue Flag designation for a second consecutive year reflects Boca Raton's commitment to protecting our coastline and providing an exceptional beach experience," Mayor Andy Thomson said.
Spanish River Park first received the designation in 2025. Beaches must meet strict criteria across all categories to earn and maintain the award.
