WHO Report: Antibiotic Resistance Growing Globally

The World Health Organization released a report this week documenting increasing rates of antibiotic resistance around the world. The WHO stated that high rates of resistance already exist globally, requiring a coordinated response.

According to the report, some regions already experience situations where half of common infections do not respond to antibiotics. The WHO said the report reinforces the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's 2013 report, "Antibiotic Threats in the United States 2013," but extends its scope globally.
