European Jet Fuel Supply Threatened by Potential Hormuz Strait Closure

Europe faces a potentially critical shortage of jet fuel if the Strait of Hormuz remains impassable, the International Energy Agency (IEA) warned. Reserves on the continent could be exhausted in approximately six weeks if supply routes from the Gulf are blocked, the IEA stated, raising the possibility of flight cancellations.

The Strait of Hormuz is a narrow waterway connecting the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea. A significant percentage of the world's oil supply passes through the strait.
