Motorists in parts of south central North Dakota, including the James River Valley, should prepare for reduced visibility due to patchy fog late tonight. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Bismarck has issued a Special Weather Statement, effective immediately from 1:27 AM CDT on Friday, September 27, 2026, until 4:00 AM CDT.

The affected areas include Foster, Burleigh, Kidder, Stutsman, Emmons, Logan, La Moure, McIntosh, Dickey, Eastern Morton, and Eastern Sioux counties. Visibility is expected to be reduced to one-quarter mile or less in some locations.

Drivers are advised to use extra caution, anticipate rapidly changing conditions, use low beam headlights, and be particularly careful at intersections and railroad crossings. The NWS anticipates the fog will dissipate by sunrise on Sunday morning.
