Bibb County Under Tropical Storm Warning: Shelter Immediately
Bibb County, including Centreville, is under a Tropical Storm Warning with immediate hazardous winds and potential for major flooding. Shelter now and heed all flood warnings.
BIBB COUNTY, AL – October 9, 2026 – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Birmingham, AL, has issued a Tropical Storm Warning for Bibb County, including Centreville, effective immediately. This warning was issued at 9:56 PM CDT and expires at 6:00 AM CDT on October 10, 2026.
Residents in affected areas should shelter from hazardous winds now. Last-minute efforts to protect property should be complete. Peak wind gusts are forecasted between 10-20 mph, with potential gusts up to 55 mph. Limited wind damage is expected.
A Flood Watch is also in effect, with an additional 1-3 inches of rain, and locally higher amounts, possible. This presents a potential for major flooding, likely prompting evacuations and rescues. Rivers and tributaries may overflow, and flood waters can enter structures. Heed all flood watches and warnings immediately. Failure to take action could result in serious injury or loss of life.
Tornadoes are not expected at this time, though showers and thunderstorms with gusty winds may still occur.
