Beverly Hills, School District Approve $39M Partnership
The Beverly Hills City Council approved a three-year Joint Powers Agreement with Beverly Hills Unified School District, committing nearly $39 million in city funding and transferring youth programs to district management.
Starting Aug. 1, 2026, BHUSD will operate all afternoon programming at district elementary schools, city-run camps at district facilities, and the State-Licensed Preschool Program. The city will contribute $13.75 million in fiscal year 2026-27, $13 million in 2027-28, and $12.25 million in 2028-29.
The agreement extends a partnership dating to 1977 that coordinates facility sharing, recreational programs, and technology support. BHUSD will manage security equipment including Closed-Circuit Television systems, Automated License Plate Readers, and drone operations. The Beverly Hills Police Department will continue providing School Resource Officers and technical support.
The Board of Education will ratify the agreement on May 26.
