Wind Advisory: Secure Loose Objects, Gusts Up To 55 MPH Expected
A Wind Advisory is in effect for Kuskokwim Delta Coast and Nunivak Island from October 8 at 8 AM until October 9 at 1 PM AKDT, with southeasterly winds up to 55 mph expected; residents should secure loose objects and use caution when traveling.
Residents in the Kuskokwim Delta Coast and Nunivak Island are advised to secure all loose outdoor objects as a Wind Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Anchorage AK.
Southeasterly winds of 30 to 40 mph, with gusts reaching up to 55 mph, are expected. The advisory is effective from 8 AM this morning, October 8, until 1 PM AKDT on Friday, October 9.
Gusty winds will increase from west to east this morning. Winds are anticipated to diminish for Mekoryuk by late this afternoon, and for coastal communities north of Kipnuk by late this evening. However, coastal communities from Kipnuk east and south to Quinhagak may experience persistent gusty winds through Friday afternoon.
Potential impacts include unsecured objects being blown around and possible power outages. The NWS advises using caution when traveling during this period.
