Wind Advisory Issued for Kuskokwim Delta Coast, Nunivak Island
A Wind Advisory has been issued for the Kuskokwim Delta Coast and Nunivak Island, effective from Thursday, October 7th, at 8 AM until Friday, October 9th, at 1 AM AKDT, with winds up to 55 mph expected.
Residents of the Kuskokwim Delta Coast and Nunivak Island should secure loose objects and exercise caution when traveling due to a Wind Advisory now in effect. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Anchorage has issued this advisory from 8 AM Thursday, October 7th, until 1 AM AKDT Friday, October 9th.
Southeasterly winds are expected to reach 30 to 40 mph, with gusts up to 55 mph. These gusty winds will begin increasing early Thursday morning. Gusts of 50 mph or greater are likely through much of Thursday as a front stalls over the region. The NWS warns that these conditions may blow around unsecured objects and could lead to a few power outages.
The advisory is considered moderate in severity and is expected to occur as predicted. Readers in the affected areas are advised to prepare accordingly and remain vigilant during this period.
