County Commissioners sign renewal of UNH Extension partnership

Berlin County Commissioners Gorman and Theberge joined state and university officials in Concord on September 6, 2024, to sign a renewed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the UNH Extension. This agreement solidifies the ongoing partnership between the county and the university's extension program.

The MOU signing, held in Concord, is a requirement under state law, mandating that UNH and county governments renew these agreements every six years. The current pact continues a relationship that has been in place since 1957.

County Administrator Brady, Representative Davis, Extension Advisory Council Chair Ericka Canales, and Extension staff Heidi Barker and Will Hastings also attended the signing ceremony. They met with the UNH University President and the State Extension Interim Director.

A Memorandum of Understanding serves as a formal statement of partnership between the state, counties, and UNH Cooperative Extension. Counties contribute funding through their budgets to support the operational costs of local Extension offices. This renewal provides an opportunity to reaffirm the collaboration and introduce new county officials to the Extension's work.

The renewal document requires signatures from key leaders, including the chair of the County Commissioners, the chair of the County Delegation, the chair of the County Extension Advisory Council, the director of UNH Cooperative Extension, and the UNH President.
