Lake County Students Advance to State History Day

Lake County high school students advanced to the State National History Day competition in Bozeman after a research trip to Helena at the end of February.
Students from Honors English and College U.S. History classes toured the Montana Heritage Center and accessed the State Archives, where they analyzed primary sources with historians. Those researching Montana topics worked with historians, while students exploring national topics collaborated with Dr. Hibbard from MSU to strengthen their thesis statements.
The group also visited the Governor's Mansion and State Capitol, meeting with members of the Secretary of State's office to discuss the U.S. and Montana Constitutions.
Winners at the state competition will earn a spot to represent Montana at the National History Day competition in Washington, D.C. this summer.
