Blue Rhino Recipe: Espresso Bourbon Steak
"Espresso Bourbon Steak with Mashed Sweet Potatoes
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Serves: 4
Ingredients:
For the Espresso Bourbon Steak:
2 pounds steak (Ribeye, New York Strip, or Sirloin)
2 tablespoons espresso powder
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon smoked paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/4 cup bourbon
2 tablespoons olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste
For the Mashed Sweet Potatoes:
2 large sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed
1/4 cup milk
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
For the Espresso Bourbon Steak:
In a small bowl, combine espresso powder, brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper.
In a separate bowl, whisk together bourbon and olive oil.
Pour the bourbon mixture over the steak, then rub the espresso spice mixture evenly over both sides.
Let the steak marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours in the refrigerator.
Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
Remove the steak from the marinade and season with salt and pepper.
Grill the steak for 4-6 minutes per side for medium-rare, or longer depending on your desired level of doneness.
Let the steak rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.
For the Mashed Sweet Potatoes:
Place the sweet potatoes in a large pot and cover with water.
Bring to a boil and cook until tender, about 10-15 minutes.
Drain the sweet potatoes and return them to the pot.
Add milk, butter, cinnamon, and nutmeg and mash until smooth.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Serve the sliced Espresso Bourbon Steak over a bed of Mashed Sweet Potatoes. Enjoy!
